HOUSTON AMBASSADORS

Houston Area Bicycle World Ambassadors

Our BW Ambassador's are like family to us. These are fans of the shop, athletes and all around good people. Being the fastest isn't a job requirement, but having an infectious love of the sport and a willingness to share that love is.

We rely on our area ambassadors to help us build relationships with local organizations and we draw inspiration from their exploits. From the Olympics, to local 5k's, our ambassadors represent everything we love about endurance sports.

"Cycling saved me. I have been running competitively since I was about ten years old, and was part of both regionally and nationally ranked teams in middle school and high school. Back in 2010, I was sidelined by two hip surgeries and a back injury as a collegiate D1 Cross Country athlete, ending my running career. Never afraid of a challenge, when a good friend encouraged me to try road biking, I bought my first road bike and fell in love. Since then, I’ve never looked back, and dove headfirst into the world of cycling and triathlon.

I moved to Houston in August of 2015 following completion of graduate school in Flagstaff, AZ. In the chaos of this major life change, I signed up for Ironman Galveston 70.3 and my first full IM: Ironman Chattanooga. Ironman training gave me new respect for myself, and allowed me to make many new friends in the cycling community here in Houston. My first Ironman was an incredible experience and journey, and I cannot wait to compete in Ironman Texas this season!

Throughout my life, cycling and triathlon have gotten me through the roughest patches in my life. I love to share this passion and excitement with friends, family, and my community here at Houston! I have an exciting season lined up for 2017 including marathons, ultra runs, cycling time trials, and Ironman events across the Nation. I am looking forwards to working with Bicycle World this season and sharing these exciting experiences!"

"I started down the path cycling back in 2004 when I did my first Hotter Than Hell 100. It was a blast! Needless to say, I was hooked. I then discovered the awesome world of multi sports when I did my first triathlon, the Small Texan. Since that time I have completed 3 Ironmen, 8 70.3s, and numerous other races/rides. The people and friendships through this sport and cycling are simply amazing! My schedule for 2017 includes Ironman 70.3 TX, Ironman TX, the MS150, the Iron Horse Classic Race (Durango to Silverton), the HH 100 and Oilman half-iron. I am looking forward to a great year representing Bicycle World!"

"After racing XC Mountain bikes for over a decade I felt the calling for a different adventure. Mountaineering can be a challenge and that's just what Susan and I were looking for. We enjoy the adventure of navigating the Mountains of Colorado, The Cayonlands of Utah and the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Hiking and Mountain Biking in all these places gives us a great sense of adventure along with the feeling of getting away. Bicycle World The Woodlands/ Magnolia location is a great shop with a very knowledgeable crew and where you will find me on the Sunday morning ride. I have recently entered some Gravel Grinder events which allow me to see parts of Texas I never knew. Whether it be Road, Mountain, Gravel or even a Fat bike there’s always an adventure out there."

"I grew up a competitive swimmer from the age of 5 and I continued my love of the sport through college where I swam and played water polo. I also coached kids from the age of 2 to 18 for many years for local Houston swim teams, so I have always had a great sense of pride in the athletic improvements and accomplishments of individuals.

I have also had a severe inner desire (sometimes to a fault) to always push myself to the ultimate limits no matter what I take on. Whatever in sport, life, family, or just a simple task I will ALWAYS challenge myself and go after whatever goals I set.

This inner competitive desire has led me to the world of Ironman and being a triathlete. In 2017 I plan on achieving my ultimate goal of completing my first full Ironman in Cozumel. I hope being an ambassador for Bicycle World will give me the opportunity to spread my love of the sport of cycling and triathlons. I hope to "coach" others in achieving similar goals as me.

I have a very loving and supportive family that allows me to chase my goals and I couldn't do it without them!"
